The Morley Family
Glass Roof Orangery With Patio Doors
Embracing open-plan living for a growing family.
In need of some extra space around the home, a light-filled glass roof orangery was built to the family’s requirements.
It was shortly after moving into their home that Mrs Morley found out she was expecting a baby. They loved their new house, neighbours and area but they knew they would soon require more space. Rather than moving again, they wanted to create a safe place for the baby to play in their current home.
Fortunately, they had the space to extend their home. They also liked the idea of an extension that would bring their property and outdoor area together.
The Morleys decided to visit our showroom to find out what was possible. An orangery got their attention, designed as an open-plan kitchen diner. They liked the idea of a space where they could prepare meals while keeping a watchful eye over their new baby as he played. Our designers got to work and created a mock up of what that would look like attached to their home.
The mock up was created on our state-of-the-art 3D software so Mr & Mrs Morley could see an exact replica of the extension, internally and externally. They commented on how it felt they were literally inside the space. Despite the fact that we needed to apply for Building Regulations Approval, the installation only took 6 weeks from the day the final design was signed off.
Many extended family members have commented on how the new orangery has more of a solid feel like a luxurious, traditional extension. To connect their home and garden, we added large sliding patio doors so the whole family can easily take advantage of the warmer weather expected in summer. With solar control glazing built into the orangery roof, they can also enjoy the space inside in every kind of temperature.
