Our Three Picks Of 2022’s Hottest Home Trends

Home trends for 2022

There’s no better time than now to improve your home – New Year, new-look home.

If it feels like the right moment to give it a shakeup, do you have any awareness of the most up-to-the-minute home trends?

Trends change quickly and ahead of 2022, several trends are set to be extremely popular, ranging from colour choices to key themes.

Crystal has picked out three of these trends, which you could easily implement when pressing on with home improvement plans.

Multi-functional spaces

We’ve had to get an awful lot out of our homes over the last couple of years, and we’ll be striving for even more during the forthcoming 12 months.

It was all about the home office in 2021, as some were forced to turn bedrooms into makeshift work areas, and in 2022, we’ll be looking to create rooms that triple up for different purposes, rather than just double up.

Taking a guest room, for example. As well as offering a space for people to sleep in, it could also have a foldaway desk in it to aid homeworking, and a Peloton to spare you those expensive gym fees.

Grandmillennial style

The chaos caused by the pandemic has understandably seen us want some comfort in our lives and our homes have been the places to get it.

As a kid, your Grandparent’s house may have felt like the most comfortable place in the world, or it certainly was for many people in their mid-20’s to late 30’s, who are behind the Grandmillennial style.

To introduce the Grandmillennial style, dust off that old family China and put it on display, add floral prints to your decor, and hang up ornate frames and antique plates.

Keep the clutter down and be more minimalist. You’ll be left with such a joyous environment.

White is out the exit door

One colour that isn’t likely to lift your spirits in these trying times is white – it feels stale and cold.

You need more vibrancy and Pantone’s 2022 Colour of the Year, “Very Peri”, is certainly vibrant and likely to make a bold statement, being a periwinkle blue with rich violet undertones.

The different earthy tones and colours found in nature will also have mass appeal, namely coloured offerings such as chocolate brown and terracotta.

You can buy plenty of varieties of furniture with these kinds of colours in them or try and work them into your window treatments.
