How To Sustain A Healthy Mind And Body At Home

Love Your Home Stay Healthy

There has been a slight easing of restrictions in the last few weeks, but gyms and swimming pools remain closed for the moment. This will come as a disappointment if you’re someone who likes to keep fit.

But there’s plenty you can be doing at home to sustain a healthy mind and body, which is really important as it will help you come through this difficult situation more easily.

Make time for breathing and relaxing

You need a routine in your life so that you have a reason to get out of bed in the mornings, but it doesn’t need to be too strict.

Establish some goals for each day and try and complete them all before you turn in for the night so that you feel a sense of achievement.

There will still be some people that you haven’t seen for quite some time. Organise a video-chat with them via Zoom or Skype to stay connected. The laughs generated during your online conversation will do your mental state the world of good.

Tip One

Move to the outdoors

Your mind and body both need an injection of Vitamin D which you can get from spending time outside in the sunshine.

There is much more scope for exercise now, so go and take a walk each day or get the knees pumping and jog somewhere quiet.

When the weather lets you, enjoy your meals outside, rather than inside. Create an outdoor eating area for the whole family to make home living more fun. Taking things outdoors will hopefully drag your kids away from their phones and tablets, plus all that fresh air will help you all sleep well.

Tip Two

Take up baking

Believe it or not, baking is really good for relieving stress, and you’ll feel so happy when you nail your bakes.

If you want to find out who the ‘Star Baker’ is in your house, have a ‘Great British Home Bake Off’. Assign a judge amongst you and cook up a showstopper that will earn you the spoils. Do your best to avoid any soggy bottoms!

Because of the current baking-craze, you might struggle to get flour in some supermarkets. However, there are plenty of non-flour bakes you can try, including chocolate cornflake cakes and Mars bar rice crispy slices.
