How To Make Your Home Feel Summery In Just 3 Steps
You never quite know what you will get during a Scottish summer, but June has been pretty kind to us, so let’s take it as a sign that the summer will be a scorcher.
We want to be optimistic, rather than pessimistic, because we know that being exposed to nice weather makes us feel calm, relaxed and happy. A lot calmer, relaxed and happier than you tend to be when it’s dark and pouring down outside.
If the weather holds firm this summer, you will probably spend a lot of it outside. However, you will be indoors at home a lot too, so you want to add a summery feel to your living space.
You can do that by taking these 3 steps:
Clean your windows
Every window in your house should be spotless, otherwise, it will be difficult for as much sun to travel through the glass as it should. Regular window cleaning is a must, so maybe hire a window cleaner.
You must also open your curtains as far as they will go. If this still causes some light to be lost, you need some thinner, lighter curtains putting up for the summer.
Your windows could be at fault for any overheating in the house. In this case, replace them with energy efficient windows.
Install bi-folding doors
We sell loads of bi-folding doors in summer as people know that they’re really good for bringing the outside inside, and taking the inside outside.
In a bi-folding door, you get a significant amount of glass in each of the individual door sections, with the aluminium surrounds being barely noticeable.
So, when closed, a bi-fold will still give you that outdoorsy feel. Any opening you make will also provide some great ventilation for when it’s a heatwave (fingers crossed).
Add some nature
Many of us have a new appreciation for nature since the pandemic restricted us to our homes and gardens, and you can add a little bit of nature to your internal rooms. How is that done? With the use of houseplants.
There are lots of different types of houseplant, but the most popular are succulents, ferns and orchids, which you could put on display on floors, tables and countertops.
Houseplants will also aid your health as they will purify indoor air, ridding it of any air pollutants. They can also relieve stress and lift your mood.
