Get Involved In National Home Improvement Month And #MakeOneChange
UK householders have all been set a challenge in September and that challenge is to #MakeOneChange in their home for National Home Improvement Month.
It can be a major transformation or a very minor upgrade, that’s entirely up to you. Prizes are up for grabs for the most impressive change (visit the NHIM website for details.)
We would hope that lots of people get involved and #MakeOneChange as a recent survey conducted by the British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) found that 56% of UK residents don’t love their home.
If you’ve lost that loving feeling for your home, you need to #MakeOneChange. These are the sorts of changes you could make:
Freshen up the look of your kitchen cabinets
Consider yourself quite old-fashioned if you spend most of your time at home in your living room, as most people now use their kitchens for almost every purpose.
If you quite fancy the idea of having your kitchen as the main hub of your home, it might need some work first. To update the space, you could just repaint or reface your current kitchen cabinets – you wouldn’t believe the difference it can make.
While upgrading them, it also makes sense to affix new hardware to them too (handles, pulls, door knobs) if the existing hardware is on its last legs.
Reimagine four walls with removable wallpaper
Yes, you have read that right. There is such a thing as removable wallpaper and it comes in as many colours and patterns as traditional wallpaper.
It doesn’t need to be pasted onto a wall and you don’t need to worry about it not being lined up properly as you can always adjust it. It has a sticky backing, and when you take it off, it won’t cause any damage to a wall.
It’s a fantastic option for people who rent as it enables them to put their personality on a house without getting into trouble with their landlord.
Improve your front entrance
It’s the sight of your garden and front door that immediately catches the eye of people when they come to visit and you only want nice things said about your home.
A garden overrun with weeds and a front door that’s well past its best won’t make a good impression, so get your gardening gloves on and either repaint or replace your unattractive front door.
When you get a new door put in, show it off with the addition of hanging baskets or potted plants to the sides of it.
