Boo-tiful Touches You Can Make To Windows And Doors For Halloween
Have you got into the spirit of Halloween yet and created your own haunted-looking house? Time is pressing if you want to do it, and why wouldn’t you, as it’s a fun thing to do!
The sight of fake blood splattered on your windows and front door will give the neighbours a fright, but that can get quite messy. Giant inflatables in your garden of e.g. Frankenstein or a gravestone can also be costly.
You can be a lot more subtle than that and still send a cold chill up people’s spines.
Put a wreath on your front door
Back in the day, you would only see wreaths appear on front doors at Christmas, but now you see them all the time, including over the autumn season.
Etsy is one of several online retailers that has a huge collection of autumn wreaths, or if you want a challenge, you could make your own. Buy some wire and gather some leaves, using a video tutorial to help show you how to bring it together.
Make the entrance eerie
No Halloween home decorating would be complete without some pumpkins. They’re great for displaying outside your front door, lit up with battery-powered tea lights.
Take a trip to a local pumpkin patch with the kids so that they can go and pick some out, ahead of carving them at home. Help them with a serrated knife and let them choose some scary stencils.
In between your pair of pumpkins, have a Halloween-inspired doormat, one that says ‘Hey, Pumpkin!’ or a more imposing ‘Turn Back Now’.
Light up your windows
Don’t keep your windows in the dark. You could always install string lights around their frames with red and orange flashing bulbs to make people aware of your frighteningly impressive decorating at night.
It’ll probably be pretty cold outside, so that gives you a good reason to create a cosy atmosphere inside. We’re thinking of things like having mason jars on your window sills with cute fairy lights in them, just the ambience you want when watching Hocus Pocus or Harry Potter under a warm blanket.
