3 Ways To Reduce The Amount Condensation In Your Home

3 Things You Can Do To Reduce The Threat Of Condensation

We all want to avoid condensation forming in our homes, as it can eventually lead to mould. This is particularly relevant in the colder months that are fast approaching.

The presence of mildew and mould can trigger allergies and breathing problems in some individuals, so it is best to tackle the problem of condensation head on.

Before you get too nervous and scramble to check every inch of your windows, we are pleased to tell you that condensation can often be minimised by following three simple steps:

Get your ventilation right

Adequate ventilation is vital in protecting your home from condensation, so you should pay attention to how it is performing. Humidity causes condensation, and our daily lifestyle adds to the humidity in our home.

Each person adds to the humidity in the house, so every shower, every meal, and every time the kettle boils, humidity builds up to create more condensation.

To remedy this, you should regularly open windows in your house, especially in extra humid rooms, such as the kitchen and bathrooms.

Use your washing line

One of the worst things you can do when trying to minimise condensation, is to place wet or damp clothes on radiators. This adds to the moisture in your home, creating more humidity in the air.

Unfortunately, tumble dryers also add to the humidity. This leaves you with one choice: drying your clothes outside on a washing line.

Be consistent with your heating

Fluctuating temperatures can increase condensation. When warm air hits the cold surfaces of a house, condensation forms.

To stop this from happening, you should consistently heat your home at a low temperature so there is no dramatic increase or decrease throughout the day.

If you are following our advice and are still experiencing problems with condensation, you may have a problem with your windows. It could be that your windows need updating or that they are single glazed, and would benefit from double or triple glazing.

At Crystal Clear, we understand that eliminating condensation is important to your health and home. Get in touch here to discuss how good quality windows can reduce the condensation in your home.
